Niall McGuinness was denied the ideal start to his reign as Rhyl manager – as their WPL relegation worries deepened following a 1-1 draw with Haverfordwest County.
Despite high hopes pre-match, the Bluebirds went ahead on 12 minutes when Sam Rodon sent in a corner for the visitors. Connor Bell notched up the equaliser – and the first goal of the McGuinness era – just two minutes later, finding an empty net after a horrendous error by County keeper Craig Morris.
But Rhyl’s lack of discipline was all too evident – as Greg Stones, Liam Benson, Greg Walters, Rob Hughes and Stephen Wright all picked up bookings. Finally, Ben Maher was punished with a red card in the 90th minute.
Port Talbot Town’s 2-0 win at ten-man Bangor City didn’t help matters – with Rhyl now seven points off safety in the Welsh Premier table and still without a league win in 12 games.
