A woman has died after she was knocked down in a three vehicle crash in Abergele.
Emergency services were called out to the junction with Water Street and Bridge Street after the collision involving an articulated HGV lorry, two cars and a female pedestrian at just after 3.20pm on Thursday afternoon.
The woman – in her sixties – was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured but the road remained closed for more than six hours while forensic experts examined the scene of the crash. Local residents were told to stay indoors for over an hour after the crash with nearby businesses closing earlier than planned.
In a statement, Abergele Town Council said its members were sending their thoughts and prayers to the family affected after a ”terrible tragedy”.
Sergeant Jason Diamond from the Roads Policing Unit said: ”We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision to contact us.”
