Vandals target ex-Hotpoint factory

North Wales Police

Police believe vandals caused extensive damage to part of the former Hotpoint factory in Bodelwyddan.

Almost every pane of glass was smashed and every door was damaged inside a disused training facility on-site at some point over the weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May. It’s believed some attempts were made to set fire to some of the fixtures and fittings.

David Williams, a crime prevention officer, said: ”It’s a long time since I have seen a building so badly damaged by acts of vandalism. Security patrols will now be working on the site and enquiries to identify the offenders are in progress.”

The Hotpoint site was closed in 2009 with the loss of 300 jobs – but brought by the Welsh Government two years ago in a bid to bring it back into use for employment.

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting reference no. RC17077899, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
