Plans to host the 2020 Urdd National Eisteddfod in Denbighshire will be discussed at a public meeting tonight.
Urdd chief executive Sioned Hughes says the organisation’s council and the guild of volunteers have already expressed support for bringing Europe’s biggest youth festival to the county, for the first time since 2006, when it was held at Ysgol Brynhyfryd in Ruthin.
Local councillors, voluntary groups and other key public bodies are expected to attend the meeting at Denbigh Town Hall, starting at 7pm.
Last year’s Eisteddfod in Flint attracted 90,000 visitors – with a similar number attending this year’s event at Pencoed on the outskirts of Bridgend. Next year will see the festival being held at the Royal Welsh showground in Llanelwedd.
