Two sheep have been put down after they were savagely attacked by a pit bull dog in a field.

The incident took place near Cefndy Road in Rhyl between 11.45am and midday last Saturday – the dog was wearing a black and white coat and a bright green collar.

PC David Roberts at Rhyl police station said the sheep had to be put to be sleep because they suffered serious injuries: ”There has been a considerable loss to the farmer and I am appealing to anybody who may be able to assist us to make contact. I am also urging dog owners to keep their pets on leads when near livestock.”

Anyone with information or who may know the dog or its owner should contact Rhyl police station on 101 (quoting reference no. RC16010971).
