Developers have launched a bid to demolish a former council site in Prestatyn, earmarked for a new supermarket.

Lidl is planning to build a new store at the former Parc Dyffryn depot behind the town’s bus station – the budget chain has pledged to create up to 40 new jobs.

The site has already been brought by Lidl, who want to demolish the current buildings, including several council-owned warehouses. They have written to Denbighshire County Council to ask if an assessment on the environmental impact of the plans are needed.

A full planning application is due to be submitted in the next few weeks.
