Rhyl’s Queen Street is set to remain closed to traffic until the end of the month.
Denbighshire County Council closed the route on Friday afternoon after concerns were raised about a building earmarked for redevelopment as part of the town’s regeneration scheme. The council said it decided to accelerate the redevelopment works following a structural survey by engineers.
Fencing around the building has been put in place along with a footpath for pedestrians, but businesses on Queen Street remain open as usual. A diversion is in place for drivers using the one way system to reach the promenade.
Plans for the building – which has remained mostly vacant for over 25 years – include eight new apartments and retail units.
