Rhyl’s Blessed Edward Jones High School has reopened following a suspected gas leak.

More than 300 pupils were evacuated from the Catholic school on Thursday lunchtime after the alarm was raised about a smell of gas. Denbighshire County Council said engineers managed to trace the problem to the supply for the laboratories.

The school confirmed on Thursday evening that the all-clear had been given after safety checks had been carried out – classes resumed as normal on Friday morning.
