Rhyl murder hunt launched after car park stabbing

homebargainsmurder2 A murder hunt is continuing after a man was fatally stabbed in the car park of a Rhyl store.

Police were called out to Home Bargains on Marsh Road at just before 7.25pm on Thursday evening. The 48 year-old local man was treated at the scene but died later at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan.

The man has not yet been named but his family and the local coroner have been informed.

Detectives say a white Renault Kango van drove into the car park and was followed by a black 4×4 vehicle. The offenders got out of the 4×4 and attacked the passenger in the Renault before fleeing.

The Home Bargains store was cordoned off and will remain closed while investigation work continues. Forensic experts examined the scene for several hours after the stabbing and returned on Friday – no arrests have been made so far.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Devonport said: ”This was a truly shocking incident in which a man has lost his life. I am appealing for any witnesses, or to anyone who may have information that could assist our inquiry to call police immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference U1637636.”
