Rhyl man cleared in rape trial collapse

A Rhyl man has been cleared of rape charges after the prosecution’s case collapsed.

62 year-old David Gammon from Rhuddlan Road, denied a total of 18 counts against him, including forcing an unidentified individual with a mental health disorder to engage in sexual activity.

Prosecutors dropped the charges on Thursday against Gammon when they failed to offer any evidence against him before a trial was due to take place.

Mr Recorder Wyn Lloyd Jones placed Gammon on a five year restraining order to prevent him from approaching the alleged victim.
