An East Rhyl man has admitted attacking his former girlfriend on Boxing Day.

Marc Devlin (36) from Highfield Park pleaded guilty to the assault on Kelly Anne Roberts, who was taken to hospital with a broken wrist and a cut on the back of her head.

Devlin had denied inflicting grievous bodily harm on Miss Roberts by insisting he did not intend to headbutt – but the prosecution accepted a guilty plea on an alternative charge of occasioning GBH. He also admitted damaging a door at her home.

Mold Crown Court heard that the victim had been supportive of the defendant and believed he wanted help. The defence described him as a man of good character.

Devlin was released on bail ahead of sentencing next month.
