A Rhyl hotel has been closed down indefinitely amid concerns that faulty electrics could start a fire.

Fire chiefs and council officers said the Fiorenzo Cazari hotel on East Parade could not reopen until repairs were carried out on an unsafe electrical installation. Its owner is currently in jail for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A health and safety inspector from Denbighshire County Council served a prohibition notice at the hotel last Friday. It prevents the building from being used until the electrical installation no longer poses a risk of electrocution, serious injury or fire.

Laywer John Washington, who brought the former Morville Hotel, was jailed for eight months in September after he was secretly recorded trying to persuade a woman to drop sex charges against his brother.

And last June, a ten year-old boy had to be rescued after he climbed out of a window and onto the roof.
