Thursday 28th November saw the official switching on of the Christmas lights in Rhyl Town Centre, the cast of Aladdin from this years Rhyl Pavilion’s Panto joined Rhyl Town Mayor, Andy Rutherford on stage to switch on the lights due to the late arrival of former Westlife member Brian McFadden.
With the lights on and a fireworks display to celebrate Point FM’s Gareth Joy spoke to Rhyl Town Mayor, Andy Rutherford about the occasions and the upcoming Christmas attractions in Rhyl.
With the arrival of Brian McFadden the celebrations were now in full swings, the singer took the stage with rapturous applause and sang Christmas songs as well as some past Westlife hits to a crowd of over 2000 people. Point FM’s Craig K was one of those members of the crowd along with local Rhyl singer and song writer Ben Williams, also know as “Kameelion”, Craig had a little chat with him.
After a crowd sing-a-long to Westlife’s Flying Without Wings, Brian McFadden left the stage to take time to sign autographs for crowd, which had now been in the cold wintery air for over two hours, he then left in superstar fashion by being buddled into a 4×4 to be whisked away. Craig K and Gareth Joy took time to reflect on the evening as well as speak to Brian McFadden and Pretty Girl Rock fan Calvin Taylor.
