Qioptiq visits Parliament

Dr James Davies MP was pleased to meet representatives of Qioptiq and of the Welsh Optoelectronics Forum at Parliament on Tuesday as part of a Photonics Showcase.

Qioptiq are a major supplier to UK MoD providing the key night vision equipment to fulfil frontline dismounted combat roles.

On Monday, it was announced that Qioptiq had won an £82m, six-year contract from the Ministry of Defence to maintain surveillance and targeting equipment for the UK’s armed forces. The contract covers equipment from across the Armed Forces, from frontline infantry and Royal Marine soldiers, to military specialists such as bomb disposal experts and includes infantry periscopes, laser aimers and target-locating equipment.

Dr James Davies MP said ‘It was a pleasure to meet Qioptiq at Parliament, particularly in view of the recently announced MoD contract.  This is very positive news for many of my constituents who are employed at the main design and manufacturing facility located in St. Asaph.’
