Prestatyn has missed out for the second year running in the Great British High Street awards.

Falmouth in Cornwall beat the Denbighshire town to win the Coastal Communities award at this afternoon’s ceremony in Central London. Seaview Street in Cleethorpes was also nominated.

Prestatyn made it to the final shortlist for the second year in a row – it will still receive a share of the £100,000 prize fund, but the winning towns will receive training from Google and Twitter experts. The overall winner was Blackburn in Lancashire.

Judges said the town was ”fighting to put its high street back on the map” by bringing together local councils, schools and community groups along with major retailers and businesses.

More to follow.
