Prestatyn man admits alleyway attack on partner

A Prestatyn man has admitted kicking and stamping on his girlfriend in a domestic assault on the High Street.

Simon Jones (22) pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm to Lucy Wellbeloved in an alleyway on Thursday night. He also elbowed one friend in the face and punched another on the head as they tried to call police.

Llandudno magistrates heard Miss Wellbeloved had been left with a deviated nose and a jaw injury and needed hospital treatement for face and abdomen injuries.

Jones had met up with her while she was out with Zachary Leatherbarrow and Ffion McManus in Prestatyn. As they walked up the High Street, he dragged his partner into an alleyway, pushed her against a wall and put a hand around her throat before kicking and punching her. He was eventually dragged away but tried to resist arrest.

The court heard the couple had known each other since school and had an up and down relationship – there were also allegations of domestic incidents on numerous occasions in the past.

The defence said Jones had been undergoing alcohol treatment as part of a two-year community order for a previous conviction. The court chairman, Alwyn Lloyd Ellis, told him there were numerous aggravating features about the case, notwithstanding his early guilty plea.

Jones did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody. Sentencing will take place at Mold Crown Court on Thursday 11th May.
