A new headquarters for Prestatyn’s primary healthcare service opens on Monday.
The former Denbighshire County Council offices at Ty Nant is the new home for Healthy Prestatyn Iach, which replaced two surgeries in April last year.
The Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board says services would move from the former Pendyffryn practice, but branch surgeries will kept open in Meliden, Fynnongroyw and Rhuddlan, where the town’s own surgery has become a part of the Prestatyn service.
Healthy Prestatyn Iach was set up after the town’s Pendyffryn and Seabank surgeries terminated their NHS contracts at the end of March 2016. Rhuddlan’s sole GP, Dr Hazel Drury, also resigned, blaming growing demands and the pressures of running a single handed practice.
More than 23,000 patients were transferred along with staff from the three former surgeries with up to sixteen extra doctors hired. Denbighshire County Council is leasing the former Ty Nant offices to Healthy Prestatyn.
