Judging has taken place for Prestatyn’s annual entry in the Wales in Bloom competition.

A group led by Vale of Clwyd MP, Dr James Davies, led a tour around town on Wednesday to look at some of the 20,000 plants on display this year. Last year, Prestatyn in Bloom was awarded Silver Gilt for its efforts.

This year saw the town council take over organising the floral displays from Denbighshire County Council following cutbacks in the local authority’s ground maintenance budget.

Mayor of Prestatyn and Meliden, Cllr Bob Murray, met the judge at a special presentation at the newly refurbished Nova Centre as part of the tour which took in the railway station, Coronation Gardens, the dementia friends’ garden at Artisans Collective and the Roman Baths, where pupils from Ysgol y Llys had planted beds.

The winners of the annual all-Wales competition, supported by the RHS, will be announced at a ceremony in Haverfordwest in September.
