An elderly woman has been charged with drink driving after crashing her car into a Prestatyn nightspot.

Police arrested the 73 year-old on Wednesday night when her black Volkswagen Polo careered into Bar 236 on Meliden Road, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to both the vehicle and the premises. It’s believed the car hit the wall on the Cross Foxes pub before smashing into the venue across the road.

The woman, also accused of dangerous driving, has been bailed and will appear before magistrates in the town on Tuesday 26th August.
