Former Welsh Labour AM for Alyn and Deeside, Carl Sergeant has been found dead at his home in Connah’s Quay in Flintshire.
Mr Sergeant, 49, was suspended by the Labour party and lost is ministerial job as cabinet secretary for communities and children last week after allegations about his behaviour were sent to First Minister, Carwyn Jones. Mr Sargeant had vowed to clear his name.
His wife and two children are said to be “devastated beyond words” over his sudden death.
Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn and First Minister, Carwyn Jones have posted their sympathies on social media site Twitter.
I’m deeply shocked to hear of the terrible news about Carl Sargeant. My thoughts and profound sympathy are with his family and friends.
