A Denbighshire firm providing surveillance and targeting equipment for the Armed Forces has started work on building a new warehouse.
In February, Qioptig won a £82 million contract with the Ministry of Defence to provide night-vision goggles, visors and weapon sights for the next six years.
The company is now expanding its base at the St Asaph Business Park – the new £3.7 million manufacturing facility is being mostly funded by the Welsh Government (£2.5 million). Another £2 million will be spent on fitting out and equipping new IT systems.
Qioptig, which employs 560 staff in St Asaph and Bodelwyddan, is due to open the new base by the end of the year, with another eight jobs being created.
