After securing a return to the Welsh Premier next season, Neil Gibson has committed to the Seasiders for another three years.
The veteran manager signed a new contract with the Huws Gray Alliance champions ahead of an open meeting with fans on Thursday evening to discuss the club’s plans for next season.
The club said Gibson had committed to his hometown team despite interest from several clubs – the new agreement with chairman Chris Tipping was sealed just before the club’s ‘Vision of the Future’ meeting took place.
Gibson has been with the Bastion Gardens club since 2005, taking over as player-manager two years later and guiding Prestatyn to the HGA title and promotion in his first season in charge.
Having led the club to a Welsh Cup triumph and a Europa League adventure in the summer of 2013, a slump in form saw Town relegated in 2015 – before bouncing back in style this season to take their second Alliance championship and a return to the top flight.
Gibson’s new contract will take him towards marking a 15th anniversary with the Seasiders in 2020.
Club secretary Martin Jones told the club’s website: ”We are obviously thrilled to have secured the signature of one of the most talented young managers in Welsh football. Neil has been targeted by a number of clubs following our Huws Gray Championship win and we thank him for his transparency and professionalism throughout the negotiations…we look forward to a bright future and will endeavour to support Neil as he delivers his vision for the club.”
