A man and a woman are being questioned on suspicion of the murder of Matthew Cassidy.
A 48 year-old man was arrested on Thursday morning and a 19 year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of the teenager in the Bethel’s Place area of Connah’s Quay last month.
A Liverpool man, David Woods, has already been charged with Mr Cassidy’s murder and remanded in custody – but detectives say they are determined to build ”as full a picture as possible” as their investigation continues.
Two women, aged 38 and 42, are also being held on suspicion of assisting an offender following raids on Deeside on Thursday. The first woman is also being held on suspicion of being concerned in supplying controlled drugs.
Police officers have stepped up their activity in the Connah’s Quay area this week, including searches at several properties and a detailed examination of a road for clues believed to be ”integral” to their inquiry.
The lead officer, Detective Superintendent Iestyn Davies said: ”Despite one man having been charged and remanded in custody the investigation is still very much on going…we are still eager to speak to anyone who can assist. Therefore, I’m repeating our appeal for any information, no matter now insignificant you think it may be, to be passed to the investigation team as soon as possible.”
