Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Rhyl man Mark Mason.
The 48 year-old man died after he was stabbed in the car park of Home Bargains on Marsh Road on Thursday evening.
Detectives say the three people arrested are from outside North Wales – it’s believed Mr Mason was the victim of a targeted attack.
He was being driven in a white Renault Kangoo van when it was driven into the car park and followed by a black 4×4 vehicle. The offenders attacked Mr Mason before they fled from the scene – he was treated at the scene by paramedics but died at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan.
The Home Bargains store was closed on Friday for forensic examination but reopened on Saturday, while police patrols have been stepped up around Rhyl to provide reassurance.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Devenport: ”We are grateful for all the support we have received in connection with this investigation and wish to reassure the community about these arrests. Further policing presence will continue in the Rhyl area as we gather evidence.”
Police have released no further details on the arrests but are still appealing for anyone with information to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number U1637636.
