A man from Wolverhampton who grew over £35,000 worth of cannabis at a Rhyl house has been jailed for 20 months.
Nigel Williams pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis with intent to supply having grown 42 plants at an address on Coast Road. He was caught by police last August after trying to evade capture by leaping over a garden fence into a nearby caravan park.
Another man involved in the cannabis ‘factory’ had been arrested but Caernarfon Crown Court heard he was on the run abroad after he admitted growing the plant to help pay off gambling debts.
The defence said Williams was dealing with a cannabis habit and had since found full-time employment. But Judge Nic Parry told the defendant that he and his co-conspirator “played a role that can only be described as significant in the production and supply of cannabis. You were motivated by significant financial advantage.”
