A man charged with the murder of a footballer outside a Bangor nightclub has been remanded in custody.

Henry Ayabowei was found unconscious outside Peep in the early hours of last Saturday – the 27 year-old from Llangefni, Anglesey, died in hospital the following morning.

Kieran Roberts (26) from Bangor spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and contact details during a short hearing before Llandudno magistrates on Wednesday morning. There was no application for bail.

Roberts will appear before a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday.

Llanfairpwll FC, who Mr Ayabowei played for, will hold a minute’s applause ahead of their Welsh Alliance games against Cemaes Bay tonight at Maes Elian with any profits being donated to his family.

The club described Mr Ayabowei, known as ”Romeo”, as a ”true gentleman in every sense”. A crowdfunding page to support his family has raised over £9,200.
