Man fined for Prestatyn pub damage

A St Asaph man will lose some of his benefits after he threw a brick into a Prestatyn pub over the weekend.

Jamie Hannah admitted causing criminal damage by hurling the brick through a £700 leaded window at the Jolly Sailor on Ffordd Penrhwylfa early on Friday morning. He appeared before Llandudno magistrates the following day.

Prosecutors said Hannah phoned the police control room in St Asaph during the incident and claimed that people were ‘after him’.

The defence said he wanted to get himself into custody – he had mental health problems and had delayed taking his medication.

Hannah was ordered to pay compensation for the window as well as a total of £235 in fines and costs, which will be subtracted from his benefits.

The Jolly Sailor pub reopened last December following a £216,000 refit.
