Lottery boost for Rhyl Botanical Gardens

Rhyl’s Botanical Gardens has received a Christmas boost after it was given lottery funding.

The supporters group has received a £2370 grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s ”Awards for All” scheme, which will allow a new marquee to be built.

The volunterr group says the marquee will be used to hold community events and will ensure outdoor events can also go ahead in the event of bad weather. It will compliment other on-site facilities including the café, community centre, tennis courts and the bowling green.

Janet Wright, vice chair of the Supporters of the Botanical Gardens, said: ”We are grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for the generous grant which will enable us to hold more family events in the gardens. The group are always looking for more volunteers to help keep the various facilities in the gardens open. You can always contact them by visiting the café which is run by the volunteers, or visiting their website.”

A Santa’s Grotto event is being held in the gardens on Sunday (11th December) from 12-3pm, including a magic show and entertainment from the Rhyl-based youth theatre group Phoenix Performers.
