A coroner has named a man found dead in a quarry as a boat skipper from Llandudno.

The body of James Ivor Jones was found at the former Llanddulas quarry last Thursday afternoon – his car was also discovered nearby. The 50 year-old from Rockfield Drive was identified using a photo on his Facebook page.

An inquest into Mr Jones’ death heard a passing motorist on the A547 saw a man on the wrong side of the wall on the day he died. A post-mortem found multiple injuries to be the provisional cause of death.

As a skipper, Mr Jones ferried workers to and from windfarms along the coast, including Gwynt y Mor and the Rhyl Flats.

The hearing in Ruthin was adjourned until a later date.
