Following the decision by the Prime Minister David Cameron to allow members of his party and cabinet to vote according to their conscience a view has been expressed by “Leave” campaigner Boris Johnson MP that an exit vote could be forcibly used to secure a better deal.

Michael Gove MP (Justice Secretary) another member of the Exit campaign also made a statement earlier today that the decision to stay or to leave would not be legally binding upon the European Parliament.

Both points of view have been repudiated by Dominic Grieve, the Attorney General and reinforced in a statement just released by Donald Tusk, President of the European Council this afternoon that if Britain votes to leave the EU the decision will be legally binding. Addressing the European Parliament he said
