A judge has adjourned a bid by campaigners to launch a judicial review into plans to downgrade maternity services at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
The two-day hearing at Mold County Court was due to decide whether the legal challenge by a Prestatyn GP and a Denbigh mother, against suspending doctor-led care at the Bodelwyddan hospital, could go ahead.
Mrs Justice Davies said she still needed to hear arguments from the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, but also granted an injunction against any changes taking place until she reaches a decision.
The health board says it cannot maintain services at their current level after Wednesday 20th May, but the judge said making changes before a judgement would make a ‘nonsense’ of proceedings.
Yesterday, talks between both sides on a possible compromise over a public consultation broke down. No date has been fixed for when the case will resume.
