Welsh Labour has held onto its Upper Denbigh seat on the town’s council in a by-election.

Marilyn Jones fought off competition from two local business owners to become the new councillor with 135 votes – a majority of 57.

Glynn McIntyre of Skills Retro Sweets polled 78 votes and Susan Muse of the Glass Onion Cafe came third with 57 votes.

The new Labour councillor takes over from Geraint Lloyd Williams, who resigned 18 months before the end of his term of office.
