A Kinmel Bay woman who said she was petrified of a local gang of burglars was caught on her own CCTV accepting stolen goods from them.

Michelle Coombes (46) admitted handling electronic goods and jewellery which had been handed over by three men accused of stealing the property from the home of Dylan Evans.

The gang were also caught on camera carrying the stolen items into her Glascoed Avenue home, including two TVs, X-boxes, an iPad, DVDs, bracelets and watches.

Llandudno magistrates heard  Coombes and two of the men were arrested after Mr Evans used his ‘Trace your iPad’ system to direct police.

She previously claimed she didn’t know that the goods were stolen but later changed her plea to guilty – prosecutors alleged that ”she assisted by making her home available to the burglars”.

The defence said the gang ‘ruled the estate’ and felt pressured into buying the stolen goods. Her solicitor said: ”She was frightened that if she did not comply, they would take revenge upon her. She installed CCTV to protect herself.”

Coombes had been involved in an abusive relationship and was now living with five children – some of whom required special attention.

Sentencing for Coombes and two of the men, is due to take place at Caernarfon Crown Court later.
