A police raid has been carried out in Kinmel Bay in the ongoing hunt for a convicted killer on the run.
Shaun Walmsley (28) fled from custody in February after two armed men held up prison guards as he was being escorted from Aintree University Hospital. He is one of four men serving a life sentence for the murder of Anthony Duffy in 2014.
Merseyside Police said two people from Anfield were arrested on Wednesday following raids in Kinmel Bay and Anfield. A 33 year-old woman and a 38 year-old man are being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender at large and money laundering. Two vehicles and a significant amount of cash were seized by forensic experts.
Fourteen people have now been arrested during the investigation into Walmsley’s escape – including a 65 year-old woman and a 66 year-old man arrested on Wednesday.
A £20,000 reward of Walmsley’s own money has been offered for information leading to his capture – but detectives have warned not to approach him as he is ”highly dangerous” and believed to be armed.
Walmsley was on a visit from HMP Walton when his guards were confronted as they entered a police car. A gold Volvo, used for the escape, was later found abandoned in Fazakerley.
