Inquest into Prestatyn train death opened

An inquest has heard a Prestatyn man who died after being struck by a train left a note in his car nearby.

David Anderton was found dead near the Tyn y Morfa crossing at just before 8am on Saturday 9th July, after he was hit by an Arriva train bound for Oswestry.

The 56 year-old, a married printer from Ffordd Idwal, was seen entering a field and climbing several gates and a fence.

He waited behind a cabin for a train to approach before stepping out on the tracks. A post mortem found Mr Anderton died from multiple injuries.

Coroner John Gittins adjourned the hearing in Ruthin until December.
