HOW TO REACH THE EISTEDDFOD MAES

The Maes at the Denbighshire and District National Eisteddfod is easy to reach and accessible from all directions.

Discussing the traffic management plan put in place with the local council and emergency services, Eisteddfod Organiser, Hywel Wyn Edwards, said, “I’m sure you’ve all started spotting the distinctive yellow signs on roads around north east Wales, guiding people to the Eisteddfod.  We urge all visitors travelling by car to the area to ensure they follow the signs as they are there to help to guide you to and from the Maes as safely and as easily as possible.

“It’s our aim to run the traffic as smoothly as possible and without affecting local non-Eisteddfod traffic, during the week, and once again this year, we are encouraging people to use public transport, the shuttle buses and of course to walk or cycle to the Maes.  It is well located close to Denbigh, and we hope many people will take advantage of this.”

Service buses will run from the train stations at Rhyl and Wrexham for anyone wishing to reach the Maes by train, and a regular shuttle bus will run between Denbigh and the Maes throughout the week, and details can be downloaded from the Eisteddfod website, www.eisteddfod.org.uk.

How to reach the Eisteddfod Maes in your car

Please follow the signs for the Eisteddfod. They are there to help you as the system can be changed at short notice. The signs are there to ease traffic and the routes have been discussed with the local council and emergency services. Our hope is to make sure traffic continues to flow throughout the festival and we ask for the support of our visitors to ensure this.

Below are the details of this year’s traffic management system, to help you to reach the Eisteddfod Maes safely from all directions.

If you are travelling from north west Wales, leave the A55 at junction 26, St Asaph Business Park. Follow Lower Denbigh Road to Trefnant, turning right on the A525 in Trefnant. Then turn left to the A541 at the lights in Trefnant and travel to Bodfari before turning right at the Aberchwiler junction. Travel to Llandyrnog on the B5429 before turning right onto Whitchurch Road, and turn right into the car park directly after passing the Maes.

If you are travelling from Wrexham, the Marches or mid Wales, follow the A541 to Denbigh through Mold after leaving the A483, or travel to Ruthin on the A525, and follow the road to Denbigh. Then, turn right on the MyddletonPark roundabout to join Whitchurch Road before turning left into the car park opposite Kilford Farm.

If you are travelling from south Gwynedd or Meirionethshire, leave the A5 and join the A494 at the Ty’n Cefn traffic lights, and follow this road to Ruthin, before following the A525 to Denbigh. Then, turn right on the MyddletonPark roundabout to join Whitchurch Road before turning left into the car park opposite Kilford Farm.

If you are travelling locally within the north east, leave the A55 at junction 31 (Caerwys). Follow the B5122 through Caerwys and turn right to join the A541 to Denbigh.
