Denbigh Town moved up to second in the Huws Gray Alliance with a midweek 2-1 win at Flint Town United.
Manager Gareth Thomas hailed a professional performance from his side, as Phil Molyneux took the half time lead with a 25 yard strike before Alan Bull slotted home Kristian Pierce’s cross with ease after the break.
Thomas said: “I felt we controlled large spells of the game and could have scored more…Flint had plenty of joy with full backs pushing on, so we changed our shape at half time. I was concerned at half time as I felt we missed too many opportunities but we went out and got a good second goal early on which killed the game. We have four games left and we want to win as many as possible to finish as high as we can.”
The result leaves Denbigh six points off leaders Caernarfon Town, who have two games in hand and remain favourites to capture the HGA title and promotion to the Welsh Premier. Denbigh continue their run-in at Mold Alex on Saturday.
