It’s emerged that four men arrested in an operation by armed police in West Rhyl are being questioned on suspicion of conspiring to commit murder.
The arrests were made when a car was forcibly stopped during an planned operation on Wellington Road on Monday night. The suspects are also being questioned on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
Police were granted an extra 36 hours to question the men by the courts on Wednesday. They had been responding to another incident earlier that day on Rhyl High Street – but officers denied rumours on social media that a shooting had taken place.
Detective Inspector Chris Bell said: ”We appreciate that the community have been concerned by this incident. We would like to thank the public for their patience and assistance as our investigation continues.”
Matrix officers from Merseyside Police were also involved in the operation.
