Father-of-two killed in A5 crash

A man has died after a crash involving three vehicles on the A5.

Police say an agricultural vehicle collided with a Rover 25 and a Ford Focus just south of Pentrefoelas at around 8.40am on Wednesday morning.

The driver, pronounced dead at the scene, was named locally as Ifor Davies, a 59 year-old father-of-two from Pentrefoelas, who was also a local darts player.

Two women were also injured in the crash – one was airlifted to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan and the other was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The road remained closed in both directions until around 2pm. Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
