Last week Dr James Davies MP met Scarborough Developments for an update and tour of the Marina Quay site on West Parade Rhyl.

Excellent progress has been made, with the initial phase projected to be handed over to retailers for the stores to be fitted out from May 2017.

Confirmed tenants are The Range, Burger King, Greggs, Poundworld and Farmfoods.

Dr Davies said ‘I was pleased to see such positive progress with a site that has been an eyesore for far too long. I am keen to continue working with Scarborough and the tenants to ensure the development benefits the town.’

Scarborough Developments have employed 60 local tradesmen during the construction phase and have sourced materials locally where possible. They have also been working closely with Job Centre Plus to offer skills training for local people to meet those that will be required when the stores look to recruit.

Dr Davies MP said ‘I am delighted that Scarborough have made the recruitment of local people a priority.’

There will be two skills fairs held at the Job Centre in Rhyl on 1st and 3rd March 2017. A jobs fair will also be scheduled on site as the development nears completion.
