The polls have closed for local elections across the North Wales Coast.

Voters across the region are electing 42 county councillors in Denbighshire and 52 county councillors in Conwy along with hundreds of seats for town, city and community councils.

Polling stations were open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday – but the two counties are among nine local authority areas in Wales which will not start counting until Friday morning.

Eleven candidates have already been returned unopposed as county councillors – including two councillors in Rhyl West and one in Llansannan.

The council polls are taking place five weeks before the UK general election is held on Thursday 8th June.
