A social worker whose drink driving led to a seven car pile-up on the A55 has been banned for 20 months.
Patricia Reid (57) from Cilcain, near Mold, was found to be twice over the limit after the crash at Rhuallt Hill last month. A suspension fault was also discovered in her car.
Reid’s defence told Llandudno magistrates that she had become distressed and drank several glasses of wine after her mother was taken to hospital.
She had also been suffering from depression because she was unemployed and was isolated from the rest of her family. She lived with her son, who had Asperger’s syndrome.
The prosecution said Reid had immediately admitted responsibility for the pile-up. Her car began to shake as she overtook a lorry and she over-compensated.
Reid was also fined £140 and ordered to pay a further £85 in costs and a £30 surcharge.
