Prestatyn’s beach has won the prestigious Blue Flag.

It’s one of 41 beaches across Wales – and the only one in Denbighshire – to be awarded top honours in the annual Keep Wales Tidy coastal awards. The Blue Flag is awarded for meeting stringent criteria including high water quality, environment management & education, safety and services.

In Rhyl, Marine Lake was given a Green Coast Award for meeting environmental guidelines including no pollution or sewage, manual litter removal and safe public access. Rhyl East and Rhyl Central beaches won the Seaside Award for good water quality and facilities, as well as Sandy Cove in Kinmel Bay and Abergele & Pensarn.

Keep Wales Tidy chief executive Lesley Jones said: “The public can rest assured that by visiting an award-winning beach in Wales, that they are visiting one of the best beaches in the world.”
