On Friday 22nd March POINT FM will be launching the first ever community event designed to build up and strengthen the bond between communities, local champions and individuals in the area specifically designed to help each neighbour help themselves and each other. Station presenters Craig K and Dan Porter will be embarking on 24 hours of non-stop radio, specifically designed to raise pledges of goodwill, support, and community involvement to help a friend, neighbour, neighbourhood group and boost community spirit in Rhyl and surrounding areas. The aim of the show is to highlight local community projects and charities, personalities, events and many members of the general public which go unnoticed.
The show, broadcast live from the Point FM West End Studio Rhyl is titled ‘Goodwill Rhyl’ and will air from 1pm on Friday 22nd March non stop through until 1pm on Saturday 23rd March. It will feature live interviews with community members and individuals discussing their projects and charities and include live and on line interaction with listeners. “We want to include live interaction to include people to send in goodwill pledges, help their neighbours, and publicise messages to share with the public the positive things they or their neighbours do that make a difference to the local area, whether it’s helping with the garden, running a community group, or just being a good friend”.
With the major changes Rhyl has recently had on the High Street the show is intended be the first step forward to show there is more to each town than just shops. The focus will be on the spirit of the people and the goodwill around to revive what once was a booming centre, rewarding community endeavour, individual effort and support. Guests including The Abandoned Animals Association, Rhyl FC and local charity St Kentigern’s will be among those appearing on the show.”
